Rush Hour on the Universal Highway

The YoYos, back in Lake Tahoe, were intensely experiencin’ the drama of non-stop, full- out wind action that artistically blows “furry animal in weird yoga pose” cloud formations.  While good to be back in the front row seats of this “theatre in the sky”, the patient YoYos wait for a slight break in the wild weather to make our tumultuous getaway, over the scary mountain pass to the dazzlin’ wine country of Sonoma, California.  It is there we are to experience our first “Anusara Jam” with world renowned teacher, Sianna Sherman, at Community Yoga.

Or are we?

Scholarly RU

Apparently, the California highway stimulus package discovered our “ripped to shreds” mountain highway, and thought this ‘tween season an ideal time to bring in every gravel truck and tar dumper in the state, makin’ our quick escape… an impossible dream.  As the winds subsided and hours passed, the “finally down the mountain and into the valley” YoYos, were sadly dumped smack in the midst of Friday night rush hour.  Crap!

It was pretty obvious that the “never late” YoYos were gonna be hangin’ with The Ru; the wise, kind, ‘ol scholarly, grandfather cocker spaniel in the YoYoYogimobile, playin’ “I know an animal”, while peace, love, happiness and whole buncha awesome asana was bein’ taught by this most respected teacher. What’s the disappointed YoYos to do after 7 hours into this 3 ½ drive?  Keep on inchin’ down the freeway, through the vineyards and up the state to make our way to life-long friends came to mind.

Cozad? Really?

Cozad? Really?

So, with anticipated class long over and traffic long gone…off we went.  Here, we heard hilarious accounts of class reunions in Cozad, Nebraska, shared the harebrained chronicles of the travelin’ YoYos, and laughed until we ran out of breath.  How happy were we to trade in this never-endin’ night ‘o obstacles with a ton o’ love… from friends.

What a “most excellent” adventure!
